Young Woman Broadcast

I loved the young women's broadcast on Saturday! It was so cool! I especially like Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk! He had a fun story about when he saw his "true love". He said one day at church he saw some missionaries bring a new family to church. He especially noticed one of the daughters with the beautiful brown hair. He thought the missionaries were doing a pretty good job. Uchtdorf said he did everything to be near her. He would make sure he would pass the sacrament to her row. Then, one time, he rode his bike to her house to take her to the youth activity on Wednesday. He knocked on the door and Harriet's mother (Harriet was his 'true love') opened the window to their fourth floor apartment and asked what he wanted. He told her he wanted to take Harriet to the activity. She said that Harriet will be coming a little later, but he could give her ride her to church on Sunday. He couldn't refuse. So, on Sunday, Uchtdorf had her sit in between the handle bars of his bike and rode as smoothly as possible on the cobblestones of Germany to church. During his life he though Harriet did not really notice him. After his mission, he was with Harriet, and she said "Why Dieter, you certainly have matured!" Uchtdorf thought he was always mature. Later, Uchdorf was able to marry the women of his dreams, Harriet.

The Waterbottle

I never thought that this would ever matter to a boy. I have a friend who got one of those tin water bottles and he was showing it to me. It was really small and black. He was explaining to me why he got it. It was short/small (just like him. haha!) because he didn't want to drink a lot of water during the day. I really didn't get it, but ok. (I could've drank the whole thing in only two gulps.) The last reason was really weird. Especially for a boy. He said it was black so it would match with anything he wore. I said, "Emmett, that would only matter to a girl!" He just told me to shut up and then a kid named Bryce came and pretty much tackled him. Bryce has been doing that a lot. I think because Bryce is 2 times taller than Emmett. I just laughed even though that was really mean. The water in the bottle didn't last. It was gone by lunchtime. Ha ha!

MY CREATION!!

My mom had wanted some way to get the kids to do what they need to do after school. So, I mad these really cool thingies for them! It was so much fun to make!! :) How it works is this: There are two different pockets, the "To Do" pocket and the "Done" pocket. In the "To Do" pocket, there are a bunch of cards with tasks you have to accomplish. When you have accomplished the task on a card you put it in the "Done" pocket. It sooo works!! :)

Ashley Tisdale

The other day my siblings and I were watching HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3 and my sister Michelle said "Ashley Tisdale's mormon" and here Tisdale is in that scene where she is wearing the sparkly thing that looks like a bathing suit!! I was like "How do you know that?" Michelle "EVERYONE knows that! Even the GUTHRIES know that!!" Me "The Guthries?" Michelle "Well, at least Lauren does" Me "Now, that's another situation" Later, I looked on the computer and found out that she is actually Jewish.

Props....

So, at church all the youth get to do a play for the roadshow!! For it, we can only use paper, cardboard, paint, duct tape, and pvc pipe to make the props with. Today, we had to practice for it and we had to make props and stuff so a couple of us made books, glasses, ipods, bags, and binders out of duct tape and cardboard.I made this really cool purse and planner thingie! They are really cool!

My AWESOME hair!!

I really suck at curling my hair and the other day I curled it and it looked horrible! Finally, I decided to brush the curls to see if it would look better and it did!

Family

At church on Sunday one of our leaders was teaching a combined lesson to the young women on loving your family. She also taught that we would do ANYTHING for our siblings no matter what because we love them. Now, you might be thinking 'whatever!' but our leader gave us an example she heard from Ardeth Greene Kapp that totally changed our whole perspective:

Our leader first asked for a volunteer who had younger sibling(s). A girl who had two adopted younger siblings was called up.
Leader: "During construction there are these big beams that are about 120-124 ft. long and 4 in. wide. Now, if I laid one on the ground and said 'if you walk across this beam I will give you 100 dollars.' Would you do it?"
Girl: "Sure!"
Leader: "Let's change the situation a little bit. Let's say we laid this beam across the twin towers. The twin towers are about 1,362 feet tall and it's stormy and raining and the wind is blowing. Now, if I said 'if you walk across the beam I will give you 100 dollars.' Would you do it?"
Girl: "No"
Leader: "How about 1,000 dollars?"
Girl: "No"
Leader: "How about 1,000,000 dollars?"
Girl: "No"
Leader: What if a man has your younger sister-(now starting to cry) hanging over the edge and he says 'if you walk across this beam I will give you your sister back.' Would you do it?"
Girl: (crying also)"Yes"

Everyone was crying knowing that they would do the same thing also.

Cookies

Last night I tried to bake cookies, but for some reason it was really crumby. I remembered putting the eggs in and the vanilla and the butter. I think. My dad told me to throw it away so he could 'show me how it's done'. I started to look for the big glass measuring cup so my dad could use it. Guess where I found it. In the microwave with the butter I apparently 'put into the cookies batter'.

Moral: always remember to add the butter you left in the microwave to the cookie batter.

Creepiness is just Creepiness

In my homeroom class at school, my table is THE MOST loudest, talkative, and the 'most in trouble' table. (I know, that must be REALLY hard to believe.) Anyways, so we were supposed to get out our vocabulary words out and recite them out loud. So we were standing there (my table and I-I mean the PEOPLE at my table) perfectly obedient with our lists out and all and the teacher suddenly looks at us and says, "This table is not going to exist tomorrow" in the most CREEPIEST voice EVER. We had many different reactions to that. Me: Just stood there not caring. Maggie: Standing there still as a statue and completely freaked\scared. 3 other boys: Standing there smirking. Corbin: Standing there not really listening.

"We are HISTORIANS"

So, at school we are learning about the Renaissance, like Leonardo de Vinci and stuff like that. We are also watching a movie about a family called the Medici's who pretty much "ruled" Florence, a city in Italy, which is where the Renaissance first started....blah....blah... Anyways, so there are some scenes where there are awkward pictures and paintings, and every time people in my class always look away and start giggling, laughing, saying "OH MY GOSH" and all that stuff. From my teacher's point of view: "It's not funny. We are HISTORIANS. It may offend you, but we are here as HISTORIANS." Everyone else: "Ya right. It doesn't offend us it's just plain gross."
